Importance of Treatment Type in Anorexia Nervosa Outcomes

The differences in the outcomes between specialized and comparator treatments for anorexia nervosa patients were found to be moderated by the type of treatment, with psychosocial treatment methods tending to yield lesser weight gain than other specialized treatments, such as pharmacological treatment. Of the analyzed psychosocial treatments, only family therapy was found to lead to significant weight restoration.
