A tool schema defines required fields, types, allowed values, and returned forms. Validation before execution prevents malformed model output from becoming an external side effect.

Tool Schemas Make Calls Checkable

A role contract states responsibilities, allowed tools, inputs, outputs, evidence duties, and escalation. Role-play labels without boundaries do not create dependable specialization.

Agent Roles Are Capability Contracts

A delegation contract states task, scope, evidence, permissions, deadline, and return conditions. The delegator remains responsible for validating the result before consequential use.

Delegation Transfers Work, Not Ultimate Accountability

Each node can be tested against its input schema, output invariants, allowed side effects, latency, and known edge cases. Local tests complement end-to-end evaluation by identifying the failing boundary.

Node Contract Tests Localize Failures

A planner proposes steps under constraints; an executor validates and performs one step at a time while state may force replanning. A plan is a hypothesis, not authorization.

Plan-and-Execute Separates Deliberation From Action

A sandbox limits filesystem, network, credentials, compute, and lifetime for untrusted execution. Its boundary must be enforced outside the generated code or agent prompt.

Sandboxes Contain Tool and Code Effects
