Incompatible Claims on Output at Low Unemployment

In an economy with low unemployment, a fundamental conflict arises because the demands of workers for higher real wages and firms for profits collectively exceed the total available output, referred to as 'the pie'. This makes it impossible to satisfy both parties' claims simultaneously, leading to ongoing wage and price pressures.
