Innate Immune Physical Barrier: Mucous Membranes

Membranes lining the nose, mouth, lungs, and urinary and digestive tracts consisting of epithelial cells - bound together by tight junctions - that secrete mucus. The mechanical movement of mucus moves microbes away from potential sites of infection.
