Short Answer

Interpreting Production Function Slopes

A production function graph plots output on the vertical axis and a variable input (like labor) on the horizontal axis. The curve is concave, meaning it is bowed downwards. If you were to draw a series of tangent lines along this curve at progressively higher levels of the input, how would the steepness of these tangent lines change, and what does this change indicate about the marginal product of the input?
