Legal Status of Marijuana in the U.S.
From 2010 to 2019, U.S. marijuana laws changed substantially. During this period, marijuana possession and use still remained illegal in many states, but limited recreational possession became legal in eleven states, and medical marijuana became legal in more than half of the United States and in the District of Columbia.
