Life Force Argument in Spontaneous Generation

In response to Lazzaro Spallanzani's findings that sealed, heated broth remained clear of microbes, John Needham argued that life originates from a “life force.” According to Needham, this life force was destroyed during Spallanzani’s extended boiling. Any subsequent sealing of the flasks then prevented new life force from entering and causing spontaneous generation.
