The background of the map can be a little distracting. Some possible ways to fix this would be to reduce emphasis on it through blending mode, blur, etc. or altogether change it to something less busy, such as a solid color, gradient, etc.

Background Design

Change the background blend mode to overlay to reduce the emphasis on the background image.

Overlay Blending Mode

Change the background blend mode to multiply to make the background less distracting. 

Multiply Blending Mode

This image is the current background, but with the exposure reduced. As discussed in the last weekly meeting, the visibility of the image is greater than the Overlay blend mode used in the last mockup.
