Service Nodes allow users to transmit and receive data packets anonymously. Loki Messenger is another such privacy function, allowing for decentralized and end to end encrypted messaging without the reliance of a third party messenger.

Onion routing protocols allow for users to form tunnels or paths through a distributed network, using multiple nodes as hops to obfuscate the destination and origin of data packets. Service Nodes on the Loki network operate a low latency onion routing protocol to form  a fully decentralized overlay network, called Lokinet. The network does not rely on trusted authorities and its state is fully derived from the blockchain

Each Service Node operator freezes Loki coins when they begin to operate a Service Node. This serves two purposes, which is used to enforce aggressive punishment for poorly behaving nodes. This forces groups of service nodes to come to a consensus on the status of the blockchain.

Loki Attack Prevention

The risk of informally defined governance has been studied extensively throughout the history of blockchain technology. Bitcoin and Ethereum experienced hard forks that split the focus and efforts of their respective communities. Although hard forks can be used as a governance strategy, they should always be considered as a last resort. The Loki governance system is created to resolve potential issues by providing a structured environment for discourse and representation, as well as creating and generating funds for new projects.

BNB was originally issued as an ERC-20 token, running on the Ethereum network, with a total supply of 200 million coins. ERC-20 BNB tokens were later swapped with BEP-2 BNB on a 1:1 ratio.
