Longitudinal Evidence Supporting Beck's Cognitive Theory of Depression (Dozois & Beck, 2008)

Longitudinal studies have supported Beck's cognitive theory of depression by showing that a preexisting tendency to engage in a negative, self-defeating style of thinking, when combined with life stress, predicts the onset of depression over time (Dozois & Beck, 2008).
