Main Components of the Adaptive Immune Response
Components of the adaptive immune response are specified to individual antigens. They include:
- B- and T-lymphocytes that express antigen-specific receptors on their surface
- the somatic rearrangement of germ-line gene elements to create antigen-specific T cell receptor (TCR) and immunoglobulin (Ig) genes
These elements synergistically work with the innate response in order to completely control antigens.
