MakerDAO is a Dapp built on Ethereum that allows the lending and borrowing of cryptocurrencies without the need for a intermediary. More specifically, it's an organization developing technology for borrowing, savings, and a stable cryptocurrency hosted on the Ethereum blockchain. MakerDAO was invented by Rune Christensen who is the founder and current CEO of MakerDAO.

MakerDAO is made up a Smart Contract service that manages lending and borrowing, it also hosts two currencies DAI and MKR to regulate the values of loans.

MakerDAO has a current value of 17.8 Billion, to date they have about 2.3M ETH locked which is over 2% of all the ETH supply.
