- Diabetes was observed to be associated with both mortality of and severe COVID-19 with a pooled odds ratio of 1.90 and 2.75 respectively. 
- Patients with diabetes and COVID-19 have shown a two-fold increase in mortality and severity compared to non-diabetics
- Further studies need to be conducted to better understand this relationship
