McGill's Three Aspects of Pain: Pain Questionnaire

The McGill Pain Questionnaire (1984) consists of a list of words arranged into classes that describe three different aspects of pain:

  1. The sensory-discriminative quality (ie. throbbing, gnawing, shooting)
  2. The motivational-affective (emotional) quality (ie. tiring, sickening, fearful)
  3. An overall cognitive evaluative quality (ie. no pain, mild, excruciating)
