Measurement of academic achievement in the ECLS-K

In the Early Childhood Longitudinal Study, Kindergarten Cohort (ECLS-K), academic achievement is measured through teacher ratings of student proficiency in reading, mathematics, and science. These ratings range from 1 (not yet proficient) to 5 (proficient) and are tracked from kindergarten through the eighth grade.
