-The most prevalent attachment style found in the school sample was secure (62%), second most prevalent was avoidant (24%), then it was angry-dismissive style (19%), and then anxious styles covered 12%. The least common was disorganized style.

-The in-care sample had significantly more insecure style rates.

-As for depression, the highest rates were found among children with anxious attachment styles. There was also a significant rate of depression found among those with avoidant style as well.

-There was no significant relationship found between the development of secure versus insecure attachment style as a result of life events.


Results for the ASI Study

-The measures used were a Mood and Feeling Questionnaire and the Child-ASI.

-The Child-ASI covered four different sections which were: demographics (which included household dynamics), life-events (which were done on a self-report scale), support/relationships with parents and friends, and attachment attitudes and overall style.


Syracuse University

Majority of the sample were chosen from a normal primary school population. There was a subsample from children in either foster care or residential homes to allow for more vulnerable cases.
