Mechanic's Effort and Customer's Bill

A car owner takes their vehicle to a mechanic for a complex engine repair and agrees to pay for the time and materials required. The owner cannot observe whether the mechanic is working efficiently, taking unnecessary breaks, or using the most cost-effective repair methods. The final bill is much higher than the owner anticipated.
