This study was an uncontrolled exploratory analysis of the effects of IFN- α2b treatment.

- For the purposes of this study, time-to-viral clearance was assessed. Time-to-viral clearance was defined as the number of days from symptom onset to two consecutive negative PCR tests.

Overall, the graph shows IFN- α2b was associated with a faster reduction on the proportion of virus positive patients.  

Survival Curve Comparing COVID-19 Viral Clearance in Patients Receiving IFN- α2b Treatment to those Receiving ARB Treatments

 - Overall, results showed that IFN- α2b was associated with accelerated viral clearance. 

- The IFN- α2b only treatment group had a mean time to viral clearance of 21.1 days.

- The Arbidol (ARB) only treatment group had a mean time to viral clearance of 27.9 days. 

- The IFN- α2b and ARB treatment group had a mean time to viral clearance of 20.3 days.


 Effects of IFN-α2b on viral clearance and how it compares to Arbidol treatment in COVID-19 positive patients

- Treatment with IFN- α2b was associated with reduced levels of IL-6 and CRP.

- Viral clearance was also correlated with a reduction in inflammatory markers.
