Mindfulness-based relapse prevention for substance use disorders: a pilot efficacy trial: Article Summary

The study taught groups that had a mix of inpatient and outpatient drug and alcohol abuser’s meditation and formal mindfulness practices twice a week for 8 weeks. The results concluded that days of alcohol and drug use decreased significantly compared to the control group which was treatment as usual. The post-test and 2 month follow up had significantly different results than the control group; however, the 4 month follow up had about the same amount of days of alcohol and drug use.
