The participants were then divided into groups and given different explanations for the arousal: some were correctly informed about the side effects, while others were given no information or misleading information. Subsequently, each participant was placed in a room with a confederate (an actor for the experiment) who behaved in either a euphoric or an angry manner. The experiment aimed to determine if participants who had no explanation for their arousal would attribute their physiological state to the social cues provided by the confederate, thereby experiencing either euphoria or anger.
