MNIST Dataset

The MNIST dataset is a famous collection of handwritten digits that originated from early optical character recognition (OCR) systems, such as those deployed in the 1990s for automated mail sorting. Consisting of 60,000 images, it was once considered a massive dataset and has historically served as a foundational benchmark for training and testing machine learning and computer vision algorithms.
