Model Organisms in Neuroscience

Many breakthroughs in neuroanatomy and neurophysiology were discovered via animal models. Both vertebrates and invertebrates provide simplistic but convenient models for the mechanisms of the human nervous system. Romanova and Sweedler (2018) highlight six model organisms that have contributed to our current understanding of neuroscience.
