Mondada Technique
The "Mondada technique" is a method of discourse analysis that emphasizes the sequential and multimodal analysis of social interaction. This technique broadens the definition of discourse to encompass communicative action that moves beyond linguistic communication and specifically includes multimodal actions. Scholars utilizing this approach employ discourse analysis-informed transcription, often drawing on and expanding conventions from the Jeffersonian system, to account for embodied forms of expression. The focus is on analyzing embodied interactional resources such, as the physical use of space and bodily gestures.
