Motivations for Studying Psychology

Students are often drawn to introductory psychology courses for a variety of reasons. These motivations can be personal, such as a desire to help others or to better understand themselves and their own behaviors. They can also be practical, like fulfilling a general education requirement or a prerequisite for other fields of study, including nursing or pre-med. For many, this initial coursework sparks a significant interest, which leads them to pursue psychology as their major.
