Naegleria fowleri

Naegleria fowleri is a primarily water and soil dwelling amoeba. The infective ameobic form is the disease causing form of the amoeba. It can cause primary amoebic meningoencephalitis which is a form of meningitis. It is primarily transmitted to humans by exposure to rivers or lakes.
