Narrative correctives in this study were only created to elicit a single emotion. Using a progression through different emotional states may be even more effective at combatting misinformation. Future studies should examine this hypothesis.

Researchers should study whether multiple emotions affects belief and if narratives can work on different types of misinformation, like statistical or rhetorical misinformation.

Rather than focusing on the first emotion elicited by a message, the emotional flow hypothesis stresses the importance of the progression through multiple emotional states that a person experiences while interacting with a message.
