Nature posts article on how preprint servers block bad COVID research

Before they submit their papers to be peer-reviewed, researchers submit their manuscripts to preprint servers. Even though the common misconception is that these servers do not have screening checks, many do have a vetting process. Papers that are submitted are viewed by inhouse-staff and then by academic/expert volunteers. Having a two-tier screen process allows papers that have solid findings pass-through while others are rejected
