NFB consistently releases statements and letters relating to issues that impact blind Americans. One of the most recent letters (released on April 27, 2022) was an announcement about Independent Living Services for Older Blind Individuals (OIB) which provides grants for resources and support for blind people 55 and older. 

University of Rochester

The NFB was established in 1940 after activists for blind people established pensions for the blind and for an increase of public awareness towards understanding the needs of those who are blind. The NFB created the Braille Monitor, which typically includes events, activities, and various social concerns of the blind.
