Nicotine's Mechanism of Action

Nicotine produces its effects by interacting with acetylcholine receptors. In the central nervous system, the neurotransmitter acetylcholine is involved in regulating arousal and reward pathways, while in the peripheral nervous system, it plays a role in motor neuron function.
