Short Answer

Optimizing Production Allocation

A company produces a good at two different plants, Plant A and Plant B. Currently, both plants are producing 5 units each, for a total output of 10 units. The cost of producing the 5th unit at Plant A is $15. The cost of producing the 6th unit at Plant A would be $17. At Plant B, the cost of producing the 5th unit is $22. To maintain the total output of 10 units but reduce the total cost of production, how should the company reallocate production, and what would be the resulting cost saving?
