Unlearning at the organizational level requires unlearning at the individual level as well. However, unlearning at the individual level may not require any organizational unlearning.

Knowledge transfer is a process where an organization recreates or maintains a system of routines or behaviors in a new setting. This can be affected by the process of unlearning because people can be compelled to maintain the "norm".

Many different definitions exist for organizational unlearning but they each define a process that removes certain behaviors from an organization. It is the discarding of old routines to allow room for new routines.
