The resolution phase is the final stage of the sexual response cycle, characterized by a relatively rapid return to an unaroused physiological state. During this time, individuals experience widespread muscular relaxation and a notable decrease in blood pressure.

The refractory period is a specific span of time immediately following an orgasm during which an individual is biologically incapable of experiencing another orgasm. Its duration varies dramatically among individuals, ranging from a few minutes to an entire day, and the length of the period generally tends to increase as people age.

The orgasm phase represents the peak of the sexual response cycle. In females, it is marked by rhythmic contractions of the pelvis and uterus, accompanied by increased muscle tension. In males, pelvic contractions coincide with ejaculation, during which seminal fluid built up near the urethra is forced out by genital muscle contractions.

The plateau phase is the second stage of the sexual response cycle, occurring after the initial excitement. During this phase, individuals experience an increase in overall muscle tone.
