Patterns of Perseveration

there are three patterns/ categories of perseveration:

  1. "stuck-in-set" is the inability to switch over to a new set of responses and actions appropriate for a new task
  2. "continuous perseveration" is the continuation of a particular act if uninterrupted by external factors
  3. "recurrent perseveration" is the recurrence of a previously employed behavior or set of behaviors even in the presence/ face of a new stimulus or set of stimuli
