Pavlov's Neutral Stimulus Example

In Pavlov's classical conditioning experiment, the neutral stimulus was a tone (such as ringing a bell). Prior to conditioning, the dogs did not salivate when they heard the tone because it had no association for them, meaning it did not naturally elicit a response before being paired with the unconditioned stimulus.
