DS children had significantly higher rates of medical complications like pneumionia(36.9% DS vs. 11.1% controls) , ARDS(32.8% DS vs. 1.9% controls) and acute renal failure(17.3% DS vs. 2.9% controls) 
DS patinets are more put on mechanical ventilation (24.8% DS vs. 5.8% controls). Mortality rate is significantly higher in patients with DS(5.0% DS vs. 0.5% controls)  but all deaths occurred among children from low- middle-income contry.

Using data for diabilities people from over half of the residenetial services in the state of New York, the COVID-19 case rate for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities was found to be over four times greater than for the general population in New York. This can be dued to the high percentage of those who live in congregated care settings that caused higher risk and higher report rate because some other data of those disabled people living in community has showed different results.

ID prior to infection of COVID-19 is correlated with higher risk when infected. In a study of the 17203 adults with ID and 188 634 adults without ID in 2020 in Scotland, the ID population showed significantly higher infection rate, severe rate and mortality rate with COVID-19 comparing to the adults without ID. Especially for ID patients who aged 55 to 64 years old.
