Populations at Risk for Developing Depression from Injuries

Some populations show higher rates of developing depression following injuries.

  • Female college athletes had a 1.8 times higher risk of having depressive symptoms
  • Depression can be as high as 45% in orthopedic trauma patients
  • Depression can be as high as 42% in ACLR patients
  • Collegiate athletes who sustained ACL injuries demonstrated seven times more
