- social media exposure has been associated with increased odds of anxiety and combined depression with anxiety
- May increase risky behavior (e.g. online gambling)
- Increased alcohol sales and alcohol use in the home may increase alcohol use disorders and domestic violence
- increased risk of physical and sexual abuse at home during the pandemic
- In places with scarce resources, the pandemic could also exacerbate mental health conditions and further limit health services
