Poverty and Prefrontal Brain Functioning

Mark Kishiyama and his colleagues determined that children living in poverty demonstrated reduced prefrontal brain functioning. This reduction is comparable to the cognitive differences seen in children with damage to the lateral prefrontal cortex.
