Principles of Task Allocation

A manager in a software development company needs to assign tasks for a new project. They are considering two different principles for this allocation: 1) Assigning tasks based strictly on each employee's existing area of deep specialization to maximize immediate efficiency. 2) Assigning a mix of tasks, including some outside of an employee's core specialty, to promote skill development and increase long-term flexibility. Analyze the potential benefits and drawbacks of each approach for the firm.
