Proposing a Reference Node to Cite a Source

After identifying the immediate prerequisite (parent) node for your new child node, click the pencil icon in its footer to open the proposal menu.

2. Click the Pencil Icon on the Parent Node

Each area of the map organizes references differently. Check with others in your community to find out where and how references are organized. For example, the education community references are organized as children off of a relation node.

2.Propose a Change to the Parent Node that Holds All the References

Once the sidebar pops up with the options for different child nodes, select the "reference child node" option. 

3.Select the Reference Child Node 

Write the title and the year of the source in the title section of the reference node template.

To propose the reference node, follow step 7 in "Steps to Proposing a Child Node"

6.Finalize and Propose the Reference Node

Find the APA-formatted citation for the source you are citing, then copy and paste it into the content field of the reference node template.
