Proposed Reasons for Increased Behavioral and Cognitive Changes in Women with Methamphetamine Use Disorder
Greater neurological and cognitive/emotional impairments observed in women methamphetamine users might be secondary to the fact that females experience heavier and greater lifetime episodes of methamphetamine use and also suffer more frequent relapses than men . The increased presence of trauma in childhood/before beginning methamphetamine use may also contribute to brain changes and patterns of use.
