Proto-organelles

Proto-organelles are prokaryotic structures that compartmentalize important compounds or chemical reactions, functioning similarly to eukaryotic organelles. For instance, some carboxysomes are considered proto-organelles because they sequester functionally related enzymes in a specific cellular location.
