Studies suggest that grief symptoms can improve after a psychedelic experience. This can be evaluated in terms of the modulation produced by psychedelics that have the capacity to trigger emotional breakthroughs that can better symptoms in certain disorders.

In broader terms, psychedelic drugs are suggested to contain mind-manifesting properties that  along with their serotonin 5-HT 2A receptor stimulation produce profound alterations of  consciousness that can in some cases produce significant changes in the perception of the self and its emotions

Physical health, psychological well-being, and social relationships showed improvement after the psychedelic experience, as well as grief symptomatology. Furthermore, these gains were sustained throughout a one-year follow-up period.
