Psychological dwarfism
Syndrome caused by emotional deprivation resulting into growth failure. People experience stunted growth due to psychological and social factors mediated through the CNS and its control over endocrine functions. Prolonged stress periods also can stunt growth during childhood. Growth impairments appear to be mediated by changed outputs of somatomedins. Some patients show a complete lack of Growth hormone release caused by the absence of the releasing hormone somatocrinin. Sometimes elevated levels of cortisol are also observed as a result of stress, that inhibit growth.
- Another symptom is disturbed sleep patterns caused by lack of growth hormone
