Psychosocial Effects and Coping during COVID-19: Data Collection

  • Data was collected anonymously through an online questionnaire created using Google Forms.
  • The questionnaire collected information on demographics, as well as COVID-19 specific questions such as if they have had a close person become infected with or pass away due to COVID-19.
  • The second section of the form utilized two instruments: The University of California Los Angeles (ICLA) Loneliness Scale, and the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS-21), which measured feelings of emotional and social loneliness, as well as feelings of depression, anxiety, and stress felt in the previous week.
  • The third section of the form measured coping strategies used by students during the COVID-19 pandemic, using the Brief COPE scale, which measured utilization of problem-focused coping strategies, emotion-focused coping strategies, and dysfunctional coping strategies.
