PTSD Service Dog Impact on Veterans' Families: Veteran Relationship with Children Improved
In many cases, the service dogs and the veteran's children got along very well and were good companions for one another. Additionally, the service dog benefits the veteran's relationship with their children and helps to alleviate some of the strain. For instance, service dogs help to calm anxiety and anger that the veteran may have previously taken out on the kids by shouting at them. Therefore, they are to interact with their children in a more positive and loving way. Furthermore, the service dog helps the veteran to go out in public and as a result, the veteran can go on more outings with their children and attend their extracurricular activities.
