The article argued that resolving the harmful effect of masculinity may require shifting from individualized service delivery to a comprehensive and multi-pronged public health approach. The public health approaches should be implemented across the individual, peer, family, and community to maximize health promotion.

A comprehensive approach will require strategies that affect the social ecology's outer levels, particularly given that boys and men are bombarded daily by messages from society about what it means to be a man. Several existing curriculum-based programs, such as teen dating violence prevention curriculums, could be developed as prevention strategies to be implemented at the individual or peer level.
