Quantitative PCR (qPCR) is also known as real-time PCR. This is a quantitative PCR technique because it can measure the amount of double stranded DNA during the PCR reaction. From this reaction, it's possible to quantify the original DNA sequence.

Reverse Transcriptase PCR (RT-PCR) uses reverse transcriptase to make DNA copies from mRNA. mRNA makes cDNA transcripts that are then amplified in PCR to amplify DNA.
