Study results vary on whether rapid cycling bipolar disorder is actually resistant to lithium. One study found that the length of time in which individuals experienced symptoms did not differ between patients with rapid cycling bipolar disorder and non rapid cycling bipolar disorder. However, those with rapid cycling bipolar disorder were had a higher chance of it recurring.
