Relationship Between Truthfulness Ratings and Behavioral Intention
Another relationship found within the study was between perceived truthfulness of a story and participants' willingness to alter their behavior. For the chili pepper and coffee stories, participants who viewed them with a higher level of truthfulness had a greater intention to eat more chili peppers and drink more coffee, respectively. For the vaccine and contact tracing app stories, participants who perceived these stories are more truthful were less willing to want to get a COVID-19 vaccine and download the contact tracing app, respectively. However, these effects were small.
